HANDGUN INSTRUCTOR
Our Handgun Instructor program takes a pragmatic approach to modern day firearms applications, instructor development, and material creation. This 5 day course is influenced by data & human behavior in order to prepare instructors to efficiently teach handgun or various firearm classes to patrol officers and recruits.
Firearms Instructor is an accelerated shooting class focused on student instructors learning effective teaching methods in the practical application and use of a handgun. Instructors will learn the techniques and skills necessary to conduct realistic training and qualifications that meet and exceed TCOLE standards for a patrol handgun.
Students will quickly be introduced into specific subjects that include firearm mechanics, problem solving shooter errors, coaching techniques, practical drills, developing courses of fire & material creation. Drills will incorporate critical weapon employment in a variety of settings ranging from flat range work, cover implementation, in or around, from, over and under vehicles with a heavy emphasis on problem solving. Lighting principles, threat assessment and injured shooter work all play a major factor in this course.
Classroom portions will include video diagnostics, statistics, tactics, and the science behind why we win and lose around various mediums. The final day of the Firearms instructor program will give students time to prime their fellow students with a video assignment, conduct a course of fire from said data set and finalize a lesson plan from the video assignment. The curriculum ensures the highest performance & instructor development from students prior to them running In-service training for their department.
Students will leave with a full instructor packet to include extensive lesson plans, a power point, video diagnostics, diagrams, and relevant studies. This course will have long days and nights (depending on range logistics).
Upon satisfactory completion of this 40 hour course students will be awarded a Handgun Instructor Certificate.
